Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS® Holds Inaugural Celebration
The inspirational theme for the Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS® (R-BAR) 2009 inauguration was “In Pursuit of Success”. The 4th annual Gala was held Friday, January 23rd at the Reading Crowne Hotel. Festivities began with Trivial Pursuit-style gaming tables which provided a great opportunity for REALTORS®, Affiliates and guests to interact with the sponsors that make these events possible.
The night’s musical entertainment featured one of our own members, Brad Weisman, in the two-man group Reminisce. They entertained the crowd with several sets throughout the evening.
The night’s business program included parting words from 2008 President Jack, installation of the 2009 Board of Directors and Officers, and the honoring of several award winning guests. Those guests included Marlene Schwoyer, Affiliate of the Year; Jeff Crosby, REALTOR® of the Year; and Jon Scott, recipient of the Grow with Berks Award. The officers were installed by Greg Herb, 2009 PAR President. Other honored guests included 2009 PAR President-Elect Don Roth, Senator Mike Folmer and Representative Sam Rohrer.
Marlene Schwoyer of Fulton Mortgage was honored as Affiliate of the Year for her dedication to the real estate profession as well as her unwavering enthusiasm as an active participant at Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS® events and functions. Marlene has dedicated twenty years to the business community of Berks County.
Jeff Crosby, Century 21 Park Road, was awarded the REALTOR® of the Year for his dedication to his profession for the last 18 years on a local, sate and national level. Jeff is an Associate Broker who holds several other REALTOR® designations. While he was honored primarily for his years of leadership service to the real estate industry, Jeff also devotes his time and energy to many community organizations.
The Grow with Berks award was given to Jon Scott of Berks Economic Partnership. His goals of retaining existing businesses, attracting new industries, and fostering a competitive business environment have led to more employment opportunities for current and future generations. His dedication to Berks County was obvious in his acceptance speech pointing out that he could have chosen anywhere in the US to live, but he chose to return to Berks County.
The evening concluded with a final performance by Reminisce and the drawing of the door prizes. Congratulations to all the lucky winners.
